Commentary
This series adapts scenes from Jippensha Ikku's picaresque novel Tōkaidōchū Hizakurige, following the comical exploits of a pair of ne'er-do-well city-slickers, Yaji and Kita, on a journey down the Tōkaidō Road. Yoskiiku's signature here is a pun, borrowing 「一九」"Ikku" from Jippensha Ikku's name.
The text for this series was written by author and journalist Kanagaki Robun 仮名垣魯文.
