「三筋の綱五郎 下り市川團十郎」 "Misuji no Tsunagorō / kudari Ichikawa Danjurō" — the epithet "kudari" refers to the actor's recent return from a stay in Kamigata
Commentary
Ichikawa Danjurō VII as the hairdresser (kamiyui 髪結) Misuji no Tsunagorō 三筋の綱五郎 in Ichikawaya Masago no gohiiki 市川哉真砂御摂, staged 1830.8 at the Kawarazaki. Presumably one sheet of a triptych; the other sheets are not known.
